After the evacuation and demolishment of the historical area Kampung Akuarium, one of the lowest areas in North Jakarta; houses, shops, and workshops have been demolished, making room for the construction of a sea wall against flooding. More than a thousand residents needed to relocate. Jakarta’s municipal government has built social housing to accommodate some of them.
